Websites This Reading Mama Likes
This list is different from my blogroll and Websites for Kids. These sites have FREE, but high quality, literacy resources and activities that I refer to often when I need encouragement or ideas.
- Carl’s Corner-Cherry Carl has lots of experience with little ones! She shares her experience and ideas in her website. Her original site had so much traffic, she had to re-do everything! If you scroll down on this link to the Website Directory, you’ll find lots of free reading resources!
- Childcare Land Teaching Activities and Printables for Pre-K and Kindergarten–This site has some awesome hands-on activities and free printables for literacy, but also for math. Let me just put it this way…there are EIGHT pages worth of activities to sort through.
- DLTK’s Growing Together– Educational activities for reading and writing
- Education.com– If you look at your state’s course of study, many times you’ll find lots of educational jargon with very little “how to do it”. This website helps with that. Click on activities in the navigation bar and type in your grade level and subject. You’ll find tons of activities from which to choose! If you need some worksheets, you can do the same by clicking on worksheets in the navigation bar.
- Florida Center for Reading Research– This website has an AMAZING collection of free literacy activities and lessons for students in grades K through 5th. It has everything from phonemic awareness activities to text structure!
- Homeschool Share– Glean ideas from several homeschooling moms as they post free literature-based unit studies and resources.
- Hubbard’s Cupboard– Michelle Hubbard has put MANY hours into this website. My favorite part of her website is the free printable books based on sight words and word families.
- PreKinders– Here you can find activities and printables for students on a Pre-K level.
- Reading Rockets– This website is a reliable reading resource designed to support any adult who teaches reading. There are answers to tough questions asked by real parents, such as how to help their struggling readers. A GREAT READING RESOURCE!
